The short version
MyFriend works because strangers here talk to each other the way they would to a neighbour. These guidelines keep it that way, and they apply to voice, text, display names, room names, profile photos and gifts alike.
A simple test: if you would not say it in a room where your sister or your colleague was listening, do not say it here.
Never allowed
Sexual content involving anyone under 18, attempts to contact or groom a minor, or sharing material of that kind brings an immediate permanent ban, forfeiture of coins, and a report to the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal and law enforcement. There is no appeal.
- Nudity, sexual acts or sexual talk aimed at someone who has not invited it.
- Offering or soliciting sex, escort services or paid companionship.
- Sharing, recording or threatening to share someone's calls, voice or intimate images.
- Threats, stalking, or contacting someone again after they blocked or declined you.
- Abuse based on gender, caste, religion, region, language, disability or sexual orientation.
- Encouraging self-harm or suicide.
- Asking users for money, UPI transfers, OTPs or bank details, or promoting investment, betting, loan or job scams.
- Advertising anything for commercial gain, including other apps and social handles.
- Impersonating another person, or using someone else's photo or voice.
What good looks like
- Say hello before you launch into a question. A room is a conversation, not a queue.
- Take no for an answer the first time. If someone declines a private call, move on.
- Stick to the room's language. If a room is marked Bhojpuri, speak Bhojpuri or find another.
- Let quieter people talk. Hosts can mute anyone monopolising the mic.
- Keep personal details personal — yours and other people's.
Extra rules for hosts
Hosts set the tone of a room and earn from it, so more is expected of them.
- Moderate your own room. Mute or remove users who break these rules, and report the serious cases.
- Never pressure listeners into sending gifts, and never promise private favours in return for them.
- No gift farming, fake accounts or coin-exchange arrangements. We withhold payouts and ban accounts when we find them.
- Room names and descriptions must be accurate, and free of sexual or misleading wording.
Protecting yourself
- Never share your OTP, bank details, UPI ID, Aadhaar or home address. No one from MyFriend will ever ask for them.
- Think twice before moving to WhatsApp or Instagram early. On MyFriend we can act on a report; elsewhere we cannot.
- If you choose to meet someone in person, meet in public, tell a friend where you are going, and arrange your own transport home.
- Block first, then report. Blocking is instant and the other person is never told.
Reporting, and what follows
Report from the room screen, the room menu or any profile. Tell us what happened and roughly when — it helps us find the right part of the recording.
| Breach | Usual action |
|---|---|
| First minor breach, such as rude language | Warning and a short mute |
| Repeated harassment | Suspension of 7 to 30 days |
| Nudity or sexual solicitation | Permanent ban, coins forfeited |
| Scams or financial fraud | Permanent ban and report to authorities |
| Anything involving a minor or non-consensual imagery | Immediate permanent ban and report to law enforcement |
A person reviews every report before a permanent ban. We aim to act within an hour on safety reports and within 24 hours on the rest. Filing knowingly false reports is itself a breach.
To appeal, write to info@myfriendapp.live within 30 days from your registered number. The same address reaches our safety team.
